“Your Latest Trick”

June 18, 2012

“I don’t know how it happened
It all took place so quick
But all I can do is hand it to you
And your latest trick”

The latest sleight of hand from the soon to be former principal of Fremont (yes I said “former” because the Pepperdined leader who bears a striking resemblance in attitude and demeanor to the Nazi detective played to perfection by Christoph Waltz in Inglorious Basterds will be moving on to cause havoc, grief and pain at Bell High School) was to rid Fremont of what was left of the veteran staff that wasn’t kicked to the curb two years ago.  Other than Magnet and a couple of other positions, every veteran is gone.

By now everyone in the district knows the seemingly endless reconstitutions of Fremont High are purely political.  What they should be asking themselves is how a school can survive without a core of veteran teachers.   But everyone is too busy saving their own skins, being RIF’d and/or displaced to ask questions.  There is some relief at least to know that the evil that inhabited Fremont these last three years will be moving on, but also empathy to know that it has simply traveled a few miles down Florence Ave to Bell High – once a great high school when Scott Braxton was leading that institution. We all know  that Fremont’s principal is no Scott Braxton.  In fact the Scott Braxtons and Marilyn Gavins of LAUSD seem to be making beelines for the exits as quickly as possible

They don’t seem to be able to get themselves appointed to blue ribbon commissions on teacher quality as the “principal” of Fremont who has nearly NO teaching experience recently did.  Quite a feat- to convince some politicos in Sacramento that you actually know something about education- I thought Tom Torlakson was smarter than that, but I guess I overestimated him.  At least Linda Darling Hammond is also on the committee and she has enough brains to make up for the deficits.

If there is any justice it is in the demotion of one Local District 7 bigwig  and the retirement of another, but not before they essentially mired Local District 7 schools in a chaos which it will take years to emerge from.  Anyone know any teachers at Bell High School? Sound the alarm NOW.

“And we’re standing outside of this wonderland
Looking so bereaved and so bereft
Like a Bowery bum when he finally understands
The bottle’s empty and there’s nothing left”

NOTE: Anyone who was “not selected” at this latest reconstitution of Fremont please contact Chris Arrelano at UTLA. The contract was not followed and he is attempting to help some veteran teachers reclaim their jobs at Fremont

I think its time for everyone who went through that experience talk about. I have a video camera and production back ground. Let’s do it!

Ok, sorry I didn’t see your comment – yes it is time to make a film and record what really happened – all the lies, etc Leave an email but create an email address that does not include your name in a comment under this and I will contact you.
