“Instant Karma”

August 28, 2011

Ok, maybe not instant, but pretty damn quick.  I’m speaking of two recent incidents, one involving an AP at Fremont and the other involving the disasterous start that South Region High School #2 is off to.

Several reliable sources have revealed that the arrogant and completely inadequate AP who replaced Marilyn Gavin as head of Secondary Counseling has been relieved of his command for……..I think I’ll let you all figure that one out based on  his prior behavior.  Plus I don’t want to be accused of slander.

Suffice to say that this cocky young man who joined the principal with a Napolean complex in the fall of 2009 at our beloved former school,  probably thought the reconstitution of Fremont would be his ticket to the top of the Beaudry hierarchy.  But the destruction of  a school and the demonizing of its competent staff has  a way of coming back to haunt you.  A close eye should be kept on these developments since he was part of the administration who decided which teachers at Fremont should stay or go.

And speaking of haunting,  I’m sure those trying to run SRHS #2 must feel that the ghosts of the 18  former design team leaders  are vexing them on purpose but in reality, we’ve moved on.  I hadn’t thought much about SRHS #2 lately, until I talked to a secondary specialist who was asked- no – begged, literally, to forgo her vacation and work with the staff of  many brand new teachers- that’s right- brand new!  Apparently, panic has set in. But wait, wasn’t the contract supposed to be followed? Weren’t veteran teachers supposed to transfer over if they desired?  There appear to be only one or two of those at the complex of four small schools,  and the math department is basically all students from a local college of education.   The rest are displaced teachers and the history teachers are all men- not one female history teacher is at the Gage and Central schools.   Yes, that’s the “best and the brightest” as the current principal of Fremont is so found of saying.   The displaced teachers are there through no fault of their own, but the pilot contract was simply ignored, a common complaint from othe pilot schools as wll.

We’ll see if a shiny new school with completely inexperienced teachers can fool parents and students….come to think of it, I have been consistently getting many searches for “SRHS #2” on this blog for the past few months, sometimes as many as 25 a day.  That means many people have learned about the reckless disregard of Local District 7 for the new school and the design team.    That’s about several hundred people, maybe teachers, students and parents, who now know the real story of SRHS #2.

“Instant Karma’s gonna get you,
Gonna knock you off your feet,
Better recognize your brothers,
Ev’ryone you meet”

And where are the former design team members- lets see- some are working for a great principal at Roybal, some are coaching at other schools and one has  transferred 1 mile away from Fremont High- you just can’t keep us out of South LA.  That’s not karma – it’s destiny.
